What we do

We provide a range of different services to meet the needs of our service users. We are constantly adapting our services to meet those needs. Please take a moment to review what we do best – and do get in touch!

disadvantaged

communities

Community Cooking Together classes

Community Cooking Together classes are at the heart of what we do.  We firmly believe that everyone should have access to healthy eating knowledge, and nothing beats practical experience in an enjoyable environment. Our sessions are free and open to everyone.

“This class gives me a purpose to leave my flat. It’s the only time I eat properly in a week” – Gary

Educational courses and workshops

In response to requests from Enfield schools back in 2014, we created our signature H.E.L.P and Enterprise courses. These courses inspire children to reach their potential. We work on increasing their confidence and how they can make steps to improve their health and wellbeing. In 2018 we added our Waste warrior programme and in 2020 our sustainability programme. We’ve been adapting and updating them ever since.

“I jumped at the chance to get Waste Warrior workshop in my school as its so relevant to what the children are concerned about at the moment. ” – Sam Williams Head Teacher Eversley Primary School Enfield

Accredited programmes

For those students who want a recognition of achievement we offer our bespoke AQA programmes. We work with the cohort of participants to design a course that provides the skill set they desire covering a range of recipes, cuisines and techniques.

“This course is just perfect to give the kids the confidence to cook for themselves” – Desta Henry-Shaw, Haringey Virtual Services

SEN

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn how to feed themselves healthy food. We work with children and adults with learning difficulties, physical disabilities and mental health issues as well as the neuro-diverse. In Enfield, we are proud to partner with West Lea School, Community Link, One-to-One and Filey Care, and in Barnet, Community Focus and B.A.C.E.

“Our service users love your classes – they can do so much more independently now.” Tracey – Community Link support worker

Recipe Meal Kits

When the pandemic hit, we had to adapt the way we worked. Our Recipe Meal Kits were born! They are so well received that we’ve been delivering them ever since!

A huge thank you for the delivery today of 90 recipe kits for our families; they are such good quality and so nutritious. We serve a largely very deprived context and every little bit of help for our families counts towards well fed children ready to learn. I can’t express how grateful we are as school on their behalf.  Thank you so much! –  Jules Belton – Head Teacher – St Mary and St Pancras CE Primary School NW1 1QP

Recipe Demo’s

Many people find cooking from scratch daunting and lack the confidence to experiment. Our demo’s show how easy it can be to cook up something healthy and tasty.

“I don’t like sweet potatoes or mango, but these sweet potato fritters and mango salsa are just delicious!” – Tina

Food bank support

We’ve been supporting St Peter’s Church food bank in Edmonton since 2020. Every week we share our surplus food collection from The Felix Project with St Peter’s Church, Edmonton. We help to support over 200 people a week.

Last year we were proud to meet the Arch Bishop of Canterbury and discuss the work that we do to support the local community

Monica keeps the food bank in ship shape each week and ensures there is always a good supply to hand out each week.

“The weekly support Bread n Butter provide for our food bank literally is a Godsend!” – Tria – Vicar, St Peter’s Church

Teacher Training

Got an inset day coming up? We provide workshops to help teachers know how best to run a food preparation session in the classroom.

“I would never have thought to teach these type of recipes with the children – they’ll love it – we can start tomorrow” – West Lea school teacher
