Teacher Training

Everyone can teach cookery in the classroom, you just need a little confidence, some ideas and some guidance on what works well and what doesn’t.

We have been teaching cookery in schools for over 13 years. We don’t do demo’s – demo’s are boring to watch. We do hands-on food preparation and cooking classes. Every child is engaged and gets involved.

Giving teachers the confidence

We know from experience that many teachers find cooking in the classroom a dauting experience, so they steer away from anything other than the basics – we see too many cookies, cakes and smoothies being made!

We have a repertoire of tried and tested recipes and lesson plans. We work to themes and we always adhere to healthy recipes made with raw and easily accessible ingredients.

We have experience of working in primary, secondary and special needs schools.

We will give your teachers guidance on what works well in the classroom and what to steer away from. We know school budgets are tight so we can offer cost effective lesson plans. Although we don’t advocate the need for specialist equipment, we can provide insight on how best to equip your school to suit a range of recipes and be age/skill appropriate for the students.

We can do teacher training workshops on your inset days or we can run classes in your school for peer-to-peer learning.

“We had grown some herbs in the classroom but I didn’t really know how I was going to do a cooking lesson with them. The Pesto lesson plan provided by BnB was eye-opening! I then felt so confident leading the session, the kids loved it and I was buzzing afterwards” – Jenny West Lea.
